This is a series of blog posts where we interview notable Gang Leaders for Ape Gang’s upcoming Gang Wars Season 1.
In our last interview, MadRab from DIAMOND BEAKS came out swinging and it was a (beautiful) sight to behold. This time around, Don V (Cenzo) from APE MAFIA has taken a more analytical & moderate route, which should result in some raised eyebrows amongst the other Gang Leaders.
How did you find Ape Gang and why did you ape in?
I was going down the OpenSea worm hole and stumbled upon the collection. It reminded me of when I was a kid, with no worries in the world, looking at the beautiful pixel art. I did a little more research on the project and ended up in the Discord. Based on the energy in the Discord, I knew this was the project that I wanted to be a part of and support.
Why did you apply to be a Gang Leader?
When I learned what Gang Wars season 1 was, I knew my best chance of winning would be to start my own gang and recruit. I have always been a competitive person and when there is a prize, I always give my best to achieve victory. I am really excited for Gang Wars Season 1 to start and each week my excitement grows watching the weekly 1v1 tournaments.
Why will your Gang dominate Gang Wars Season 1?
Ape Mafia has taken an analytical approach to recruiting apes. Gang Wars is a team effort and I have a commitment to my Gang members to thrive for excellence and only recruit apes that make Ape Mafia stronger. Based of this approach, we should crush any gang that does not spend time recruiting and give us a shot at the podium. I have received a ton of support from the members in my Gang, which has made us much stronger and a force to be reckoned with.
Having said that, who do you see as your main competitor?
I don’t think it’s a surprise to anyone that LC and some of the Gangs that were created earlier are the main competition. I have tried recruiting most of the top fighting apes and too many times I received a response that they are already in another Gang. As this project progresses, I think competition between Gangs will benefit the project as a whole.
Gang Wars Season 2 will include Toucans and Jaguars but not much else has been revealed. How do you see Season 2 playing out?
I have not spent a lot of time thinking past season 1. I do believe that the Toucans and Jaguars will have fighting stats but will also have a special moves that will increase the stats of the ape they are fighting with. I also believe in the near future we will see a lot of other fighting formats besides 50 v 50, like 2v2 and 8v8.
What’s your favorite thing about Ape Gang’s community?
My favorite part of the community is the is the passion and willingness to help other members. We have a strong base of support and anytime I have had a question, there has always been someone there to answer or assist me. I have the send a big thanks to BGB who traded with me so I could acquire an alien toucan to pair it with my PFP. This is what community is about and I am glad to be part of the Ape Gang community.
Where do you see Ape Gang EOY (talking about floors is forbidden)?
I believe Ape Gang will get the attention it deserves when Gang Wars Season 1 is upon us. The fighting and tournament element differentiates us from most projects and I believe people will want to get into the action when they see future tournaments and reward structures for them. Ape Mafia is looking forward to seeing you on the battlefield in Season 1.
