Ape Gang is created on OpenSea but isn’t released until June 30th due to technical challenges relating to bulk uploading. Founders @Jokong and @Rikong end up coding their own bot to solve the challenges.

Ape Gang’s Discord server launches with an iconic “Welcome to Ape City @ everyone” by Ape Gang co-founder @Rikong.
June 30th
Ape Gang becomes the first project to reveal & release an entire collection for sale on OpenSea over a couple of days. The initial price point is set at 0.08 ETH.
July 2021
July 2nd
4500/10000 apes are released on OpenSea.
@RoninNFT buys an alien ape with matching alien eyes for 0.08 ETH and sells it for 4 ETH on July 19th.
July 3rd
@ApeGang-BigFuture buys one of the most iconic apes in the collection and sells it on November 19th for 20 ETH.
July 4th
The entire collection of 10.000 apes is fully revealed & released on OpenSea.
July 6th
One of the first Ape Gang memes ever to be made is shared in Ape Gang’s discord.
July 7th
@Tank apes in and buys one of the most iconic robot apes.
July 8th
@LUVELLI apes in with another iconic robot fur ape.
The founders, @Rikong and @Jokong, announce the legendary Bored Ape Yacht Club give-away for all holders. BAYC #9239 was latest sold for 16.4 ETH on August 20th and the floor for horned BAYC’s now sits at 75 ETH.
July 13th
3% of the collection is sold.
July 17th
The price for buying apes is lowered from 0.08 ETH to 0.03 ETH. OG holders buying at 0.08 ETH are airdropped free apes.
July 18th
Ape Gang is trending on OpenSea and sales go nuts. At the end of the day, 2005 apes are sold at an average price of 0.0326 ETH and a total volume of 65.5 ETH. The number of unique holders crosses 400.
@PokermonFace flexes his 3x rainbow ape in Ape Gang’s discord and starts giving advice on matching sets that are still not shown in Rarity Tools.
A lot of OGs can be spotted in the chat including @Crazy Tony, @TVK and @yolomoon. @Chidzo is also spotted flexing his gang.
July 19th
Exponential sales. At the end of the day Ape Gang becomes the first project to sell close to 10.000 NFTs in a single day. In total, 9748 apes are sold at an average price of 0.061 ETH and a sales volume of 595 ETH. The number of unique owners went from 500 to almost 2000.
@ROBNESS tweets about Ape Gang after his +200 ape buying spree, whipping the discord into a frenzy.
During the day, @Rikong announces that 23% of the collection is sold, which triggers phase 1 of the roadmap.
July 20th
Ape Gang exceeds 2000 owners! And makes top 10 volume on OpenSea. And receives a blue check mark on OpenSea. All in a day’s work.
@Sartoshi enters the scene with a 6 ETH ghost ape buy when the floor is hovering around 0.1 ETH.
July 21st
The floor sees some major swings from 0.08 ETH to below 0.05 ETH after the big pump on July 20th. New owners keep flooding in and Ape Gang ends the day with more than 2200 unique holders.
@Jokong teases the iconic 1/1 Vader Ape for the very first time. An ape that would later find an equally iconic owner.

July 22nd
@JoanTFR, who later launches the “Look at my Raccoon” NFT project, is drawn as the winner of Ape Gang’s Bored Aped Yacht Club #9239 give-away but — famously — asks for a redraw because he doesn’t want to receive the prize being one of Ape Gang’s discord moderators. The BAYC goes to @Tonio instead.

July 23rd
Another day of big floor swings from 0.04 ETH to 0.085 ETH. Ape Gang ends the day with more than 2300 unique holders.
@Swapski enters his — now legendary— “APE GANG” track into Ape Gang’s rap contest.
@ETHAPE enters another fan favorite, “Thicker than Thieves”, into the rap contest.
July 24th
As the floor approaches the mint price of 0.03 ETH (with a 2T floor of 0.075 ETH), everyone’s an expert on what needs to be done. Many holders believe that a new smart contract is the only answer. Well we got one. It just took a while. On December 15th Ape Gang launched its new smart contracted and now all migrated apes passively yield $GANG.

July 25th
New owners continue to ape in an Ape Gang ends the day at close to 2400 unique holders. On another positive note, Rarity Tools adds matching traits to Ape Gang’s listing.
The Rainforest Foundation US receives Ape Gang’s 20 ETH donation to help real apes and preserve indigenous rights.
@PokermonFace shares some wisdom amongst the constant floor talk.
@BobbyZoo (BA), who is still today one of Ape Gang’s largest holders, makes his first appearance in Ape Gang’s discord.
July 26th
The community continues to argue whether Gang Wars game development or contract migration should be prioritized first.
Co-founder @Jokong joins the discussion and outlines the pros & cons of contract migration form his point of view.
OG @TVK more or less predicts the future without knowing it at the time.
July 27th
The community celebrates reaching 2400 unique holders and @Swapski wins the rap contest with “APE GANG”.
@PicassoApeGang launches the first Ape Gang derivative collection on OpenSea.
July 29th
With no improvement of the sub 0.04 ETH floor in sight, the community starts discussing what should be done to turn things around. Contract migration, collaborations with other projects, game development, daily project updates on social media are all discussed in detail. 10 days after selling out on OpenSea there are talks that Ape Gang is at a make-or-break “inflection point”. The NFT space is brutal.
Meanwhile, OG @Hollowbodyman takes a look into a future where Ape Gang turns into global brand.
And a bit later, @Hollowbodyman lays the first foundation of Ape Gang’s Management team.
July 30th
Sartoshi tweets his — now famous — diving mask ape and Stikman decides not to offload his 230 apes after all. Some hope is restored.
Co-founder @Jokong teases the first version of Jaguars and confirms that Jaguars will be free, claimable for gas, and minted on their own contract.
July 31st
New holders ape in daily (although at a slower rate) and Ape Gang reaches 2.5K unique holders according to OpenSea.
The community discusses an anonymous floor sweep of 84 CryptoPunks. Looking back, whoever swept those made a good decision.
